Order Updates or Marketing? A Checklist for Adult-Wellness Shoppers

Ask what the message is for

When shopping for adult-wellness products, it helps to separate information about an order from invitations to buy again. Start with what a message actually asks you to do. An order reference, a familiar logo or a previous purchase does not settle every question about its purpose or its sender.

The FTC distinguishes promotional email from messages that help complete or confirm a transaction already agreed to. It explains that an existing customer relationship alone does not make every email transactional. Read the subject and the body together. When a message combines order information and advertising, their placement and emphasis matter under the FTC guidance.

Compare the action, not just the heading

Imagine one message lists a purchase reference and asks you to check an address you already supplied. Another announces a new collection and invites another purchase. These hypothetical examples give you different reading tasks: review an existing transaction in the first case, consider a new offer in the second. They are not descriptions of an Aitoyplay order or a legal finding about a particular email.

Make three notes: the transaction it refers to, the action requested and any promotion included. If the purpose remains unclear, keep the uncertainty visible and ask the business through a known contact route. Do not treat an attractive subject line as proof of an order status.

Keep marketing choices separate

FTC guidance says commercial email needs a clear way to stop future marketing messages. Look for that option in a genuine marketing message or in the verified sender’s preferences. A newsletter choice and information needed to handle an existing purchase serve different purposes.

For your own record, note the date and the choice made. Avoid putting payment details or a sensitive shopping history into a shared note. This checklist does not certify a store’s consent system, delivery practices or compliance.

Verify before responding

The FTC warns that phishing can resemble a familiar company or claim a payment problem. For a suspicious message, contact the company through a website or number you already know is genuine, rather than details inside that message.

If you have an account, review the order through your usual trusted route. Keep the confirmed purchase record separate from promotional offers. Before choosing a newsletter, read the current privacy information and check which settings are actually available.
